New Horizons’ Latest Collaboration Will Be Unavailable For Millions Of Players

While fans are still patiently waiting for an official sequel, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has received no shortage of free content updates, designs, and crossovers for players to enjoy over the years, especially with the major 3.0 update that was released earlier this year. Although almost all of these additions can be enjoyed by players all around the globe, New Horizons isn’t a stranger to limited events that can only be enjoyed by a lucky few fans.

With a majority of these crossovers and limited designs being tied to regionally exclusive merchandise or in-person events like the New Horizons aquarium takeover, which is getting a new U.S. tour this year, the latest collaboration is far too sweet to ignore.

Originally announced on Nintendo’s blog and the Baskin-Robbins Japan YouTube Channel, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is partnering with Baskin-Robbins to bring a plethora of adorable designs, flavors, and exclusive merchandise to fans. X user cozyberru compiled most products included in the event into a handy translated image.

While the collaboration seems like an absolute dream come true thanks to its adorable assortment of themed goodies, it unfortunately comes with the major caveat that the limited-time products will only be available exclusively in Japan for July, with millions of players worldwide out of luck to get a hold of them.

Aside from the stunning presentation and cute merchandise included in the event, the collaboration also offers a brand-new limited-edition flavor that combines pear, apple, and salted ramune flavorings in a design shaped like the earth, with several chocolate-shaped fish pieces included to add an extra crunch, as shown in the official photos.

Baskin-Robbins is far from the only crossover New Horizons fans in Japan are getting, either, as Nintendo is also partnering with Chitose Airport in Hokkaido for some exclusive merchandise ranging from keychains, model planes, and more. While the concepts themselves are fantastic to see, it’s still more than a little disappointing that the global chain isn’t able to share the enjoyment with the rest of the world outside of Japan.

Especially considering how many players are still staying loyal to New Horizons after not getting more of the features they’ve been requesting since launch, at least some kind of event for global fans to look forward to would have been appreciated, even if it was on a much smaller scale.

Thankfully, while it might not be the same as getting to taste the sweet treats for yourself, the collaboration between Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Baskin-Robbins has one treat for everyone. You can visit a dream island themed after the ice cream chain for yourself in-game, regardless of region, which includes “31 flavor patterns” to copy and download for your own use in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
