Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming mythological epic, Ramayana, is getting ready for a massive global showcase. The film has officially secured a spot on the schedule for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) 2026. The film’s producer Namit Malhotra, director Nitesh Tiwari, and lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Yash are all set to attend the convention to present an exclusive first look on July 23.

According to the official SDCC lineup, the Ramayana panel will take place on July 23, 2026, at 3:15 pm PDT(which corresponds to 3:15 am IST on July 24). The event will be hosted in Ballroom 20, which is the convention’s second-largest venue. Known for hosting major studio showcases, the venue can accommodate around 4,800 attendees. This international presentation marks a special milestone in the film’s promotional strategy, aimed at introducing the adaptation to audiences well beyond India.

The description in the official SDCC listing highlights the massive scale of the project, stating, “In an age of gods and kings, the fate of worlds hangs in the balance. Rama, a prince bound by duty, sacrifice and the greater good, must face Ravana, an immortal ruler driven by pride and vengeance, powerful enough to shatter the cosmos. Namit Malhotra, founder of Prime Focus, and global CEO of visual effects powerhouse DNEG, is joined by Ranbir Kapoor (Rama), Yash (Ravana) and director Nitesh Tiwari for an exclusive first look at the largest cinematic undertaking in Indian film history and a sweeping new retelling of one of the world’s oldest and most enduring epics.”

The move to present at Comic-Con is a deliberate decision to position the project as a global spectacle rather than a standard domestic release. Highlighting this shift, a source quoted by Mid-Day shared, “Comic-Con gives it a global platform. The idea is to present the mythological drama not just as an Indian epic, but as a cinematic spectacle to the world.”

With this appearance, Ramayana will become only the second Indian film to ever receive a prominent showcase at San Diego Comic-Con, after Kalki 2898 AD. The team is also expected to release exclusive content specifically for the convention’s attendees.

Before traveling to the United States for Comic-Con, the film’s domestic promotional campaign will kick off in India. According to a report by Variety India, the makers plan to release the film’s first trailer at a grand event hosted at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on July 18. This event will provide local audiences with their most comprehensive look at the film before the team heads abroad.

Mounted on a budget of Rs 4,000 crore, Ramayana features a star-studded ensemble cast. Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi plays Sita, and Yash plays Ravana. The film also features Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, alongside Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha, and Adinath Kothare.

The producers are also reportedly exploring additional international promotions, including potential live performances by music composers Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman, who are collaborating on the film’s soundtrack. However, these specific musical plans have not yet been officially announced by the makers. Ramayana is planned as a two-part saga, with Ramayana Part 1 to release in theatres in Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in Diwali 2027.
