Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, has been declared tax-free in West Bengal ahead of its theatrical release on November 5. The announcement was made by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari during Dussehra celebrations at Central Park in Salt Lake, Kolkata, on October 20. Several members of the film’s team were also present at the event.

Speaking to ANI during the celebrations, Suvendu Adhikari announced the decision and referred to other films that had received or would receive similar exemptions. He said, “The Ramayana film has been made tax-free. The Kerala Story, The Kashmir Files, and The Bengal Files—all of these have been made tax-free, and the same will apply to Ramayana. In the days to come, we will see films on Shri Krishna and Arjuna, as well as the Mahabharata.”

During the event, Yash also spoke about producer Namit Malhotra’s efforts to bring the ambitious project to audiences worldwide. Yash said, “Sometimes, when someone tries to do things like this. He has gambled his reputation and money to put this film on a global platform. Please don’t try to find small faults in the VFX. It will never happen again if we lose people like him (Namit) now. It will take more years. We will go back in time.”

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor expressed his gratitude to the Telugu audience for their love and support, hoping they would enjoy the film on the big screen.

The mythological drama is scheduled to arrive in theatres on November 5.
