Shamita Shetty has issued a sharp response to social media users who targeted her with comments about her age and marital status. Known for her roles in films like Mohabbatein, Zeher, and Cash, she took to her Instagram Stories to address the criticism directly after a user mocked her appearance and questioned why she remained unmarried.
The controversy began when a social media user posted comments on Shamita’s account, writing, “Apki age ho gayi hai pehle wali baat nahi rahi (You have grown old now; you are not the same as before).” Responding to the remarks about her changing appearance, Shamita wrote, “Yes, I will look different. Things change with time; it’s the natural way of life. Nothing stays forever, including physical appearance! BUT for my age, I’m healthy, fit, and happy with a grateful heart for all that the almighty has given me… and that’s all that matters to me.”
The troll further commented on her personal life, writing, “Agar shaadi time par kar leti to aapke bache aaj bade ho gaye hote (If you had gotten married on time, your children would have grown up by now).” Shamita did not hold back in her reply to this comment. She replied, “Toh? Yes, you stated the obvious… so? Aapne shaadi karke kya ukhaad liya hai bhai (What miracle you have cracked after getting married)?”
Shamita also addressed the underlying negativity directed at single women online. She added, “Most importantly, why the hell do you follow us single women to age-shame us and inflict us with your patriarchal, cave-man-like, male-centric thought process! Please do me a favour and unfollow me pronto!”
Shamita, who has consistently maintained that she does not wish to marry just for the sake of societal expectations, previously gained attention for her appearances on reality shows, including Bigg Boss OTT and Bigg Boss 15. She has also moved away from full-time acting in recent years to focus on a successful career in interior design.
