Shakira lit up a crowd of two million people with a free concert on Rio de Janiero’s Copacabana Beach Saturday, May 2nd.

Starting off the night at the “Todo Mundo no Rio” festival with a drone display of a wolf, a reference to her “She Wolf” song, and “I love you, Brazil” in Portuguese, Shakira opened with “La Fuerta” from her 2024 album “Las Mujeres Ya No Llora” before tearing through a set of nearly 30 songs that featured video interludes and costume changes.

She performed hits like “TQG,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” and “Chantaje” as well as fan favorites such as “Can’t Remember to Forget you,” “Whenever Wherever,” and “Choka Choka,” her collaboration with Anitta. She ended the near-three hour concert with an encore of “She Wolf” and “BZRP Music Sessions #53/66.”

During the concert, the Colombian singer talked about her first time performing in Brazil, the Associated Press reported. “I arrived here when I was 18 years old, dreaming about singing for you,” Shakira told the crowd. “And now look at this. Life is magical.”

She also celebrated the resilience of women at the concert, declaring, “Us women, every time we fall we get up a little wiser.”

Rio Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere posted on X that 2 million people came to the concert, adding “The She-Wolf made history in Rio.”

The mega-concert was part of Shakira’s world-wide “Las Mujeres Ya No Llora,” or “Women No Longer Cry” tour. Shakira will next bring the “Las Mujeres Ya No Llora” tour to the US for 13 dates in June and July to cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, and New York. Fans can get tickets here.

Pop-stars performing to enormous crowds at the festival is becoming an annual tradition: Madonna played the inaugural event in 2024, while Lady Gaga hit the stage in 2025.
