Slow Horses is a global streaming sensation, and the Apple TV spy thriller series just got the perfect chart update, paving the way for what could soon become a major streak for the hit show. Espionage TV shows have come out in droves in recent years, with the genre doing well on streaming. Spy series like Michael Fassbender’s The Agency on Paramount+ and Netflix’s The Night Agent have become multi-season hits for their respective streaming services, lighting up the streamers’ charts on fire with every new season. That said, Slow Horses still reigns supreme in the genre for one reason.
Not only is Slow Horses one of the most popular spy thriller series in recent memory, but the gritty drama is also one of the few streaming hits that have managed to keep to an annual release schedule. Slow Horses season 1 debuted back on April 1, 2022, with season 2 debuting that December. That allowed Slow Horses to enter the select group of shows that released two seasons in the same year. After that, the British spy drama has kept to an annual release schedule with no issues. Now, Slow Horses has just risen to the top of a key streaming chart.
Slow Horses Unravels The Clues To Apple TV Domination
According to new data from FlixPatrol, Slow Horses has become the most-watched TV show on Apple TV worldwide. The spy thriller series led by Gary Oldman just dethroned the sports comedy Ted Lasso. Both hit Apple TV shows recently returned with new seasons, and they were airing new episodes on the same day, every Wednesday. However, the Ted Lasso season 4 finale was released on Apple TV on October 7. This Wednesday, Slow Horses season 6 aired its 5th episode on the streaming service, and without Ted Lasso as a competitor, the spy thriller series rose to #1 on Apple TV globally.

While it does not have the same 10 episodes of Ted Lasso season 4, Slow Horses season 6 still has one more episode left to air, with the finale arriving on October 21, which should allow for the espionage thriller to at least secure a two-week streak at the top of the streaming service’s charts. At the time of writing, Slow Horses also leaves behind shows like Silo, Dark Matter, Brothers, Widow’s Bay, Severance, and more on Apple TV’s global charts. As per FlixPatrol, Slow Horses is currently trending on Apple TV in 103 countries, ranking 1st in 68, including the United States.
What Is Next For Apple TV’s Slow Horses?
Slow Horses season 6 might end next week, but the Apple TV spy thriller series’ future has already been secured for the long run. The streaming service has renewed Slow Horses for seasons 7 and 8, which will be based on the Mick Herron novels Bad Actors and Clown Town, respectively. With Slow Horses continuing to prove itself a global streaming sensation with the release of every new season, even fighting an Apple TV behemoth like Ted Lasso on streaming charts, there is no telling when the show will call it a day, as Slow Horses‘ run could continue beyond season 8.
