After its theatrical run last year, Kussh S. Sinha’s directorial debut Nikita Roy has now arrived on streaming, opening up its chilling world to a much wider audience. The horror-mystery film stars Sonakshi Sinha in the lead, alongside Paresh Rawal, Suhail Nayyar and Arjun Rampal.
Set in a world where logic and belief constantly clash, Nikita Roy follows its title character. She is a rationalist who makes a living debunking supernatural myths and superstitions. Her carefully ordered worldview is shaken when her brother dies under mysterious circumstances. What begins as a personal search for answers soon turns into a gripping and unsettling investigation. As she digs deeper into the layers of deception surrounding her brother’s death, the lines between reality and the supernatural begin to blur. The film, set to release on JioHotstar, builds its tension around this conflict. Talking about the film, Sonakshi Sinha said that Nikita felt “very real” to her from the beginning. She described the character as someone dealing with loss, confusion and unanswered questions, yet moving forward with quiet strength. She also credited director Kussh S. Sinha for giving her the space to explore the silences and emotional depth of the character.
Paresh Rawal plays Amar Dev. He has revealed that he was drawn to the understated nature of his role. Unlike many of his previous characters, Amar Dev exerts influence through presence rather than loudness or aggression. Rawal added that the layered storytelling of Nikita Roy benefits from a format where viewers can truly absorb its details and mood.
Directed by Kussh S. Sinha and produced by Kinjal Ashok Ghone, Nicky Khemchand Bhagnani, Kartos Entertainment and others, Nikita Roy blends psychological drama with supernatural intrigue. As Nikita gets closer to the truth behind her brother’s death, the film leaves viewers questioning whether rationalism is enough to protect her from forces she may not fully understand.
