Veteran Filmmaker Subhash Ghai was recently found reminiscing about one of his most iconic films, Taal, while recalling the challenges he faced while making it years ago. Subhas Ghai has directed several popular films, which include Karz, Ram Lakhan, Saudagar, and Pardes, to name a few.

The filmmaker recently took to his social media and shared a still featuring Anil Kapoor and Akshaye Khanna. While doing so, the director reflected upon the storytelling elements he had used in the making of the film. Subhash Ghai wrote, “PEACE OR PASSION ? COSMIC OR COSMETIC ? INNER OR OUTER ? Is the story of TAAL – a film i dared to make With no villain. N become a memorable. Can we make TAAL 2 ? Today Is a question in my mind.”

Looking back on the film, the director highlighted how Taal avoided conventional tropes, that is, it stood away from the mainstream media and did not depend on the themes of sex, violence, or villain, but despite this, still connected to the people and is loved by GenZ and Alpha.

More about Subhash Ghai’s film: Taal

Released in the year 1999, ‘Taal’ is an Indian Hindi language musical romantic drama, co-written, edited, produced, and directed by Subhash Ghai. The film starred Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in lead roles. With Amrish Puri and Alok Nath featuring in supporting roles.

The movie revolves around the love story of a village girl, Mansi, and a boy, Manav, from a wealthy business family, whose relationship is challenged by social differences, personal ambitions, and misunderstandings.

The movie’s music was composed by A. R. Rahman and became a huge hit soon after. Songs like Taal Se Taal Mila, Ishq Bina, Ramta Jogi, and Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaaye are still enjoyed by fans immensely, even after three decades of their release.
