If you’re feeling an itch for a Dark Souls-like game to play, Xbox Game Pass has a title in its catalog that may give you what you want, but getting through it may require a bit of patience as you develop your skills. There are thousands of games to pick from the catalog, which is constantly undergoing changes. For instance, five new day-one releases on Xbox Game Pass were revealed recently, showing what titles will arrive later this year.

Even though there are titles that are removed from the catalog every so often, there is still a high influx of games to make up for losses. For example, the end of the month will signal the removal of titles like Starbound and Lonely Mountains Snow Riders. However, some of the February 2026 Xbox Game Pass additions include Indika and Final Fantasy 2.

This Xbox Game Pass Freebie Is Brutal

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Was A Day-One Release

With so many possibilities, it’s easy to get lost. However, if you’re looking for a soulslike title to play for free via Xbox Game Pass, Wuchang: Fallen Feather may be the game for you. The title created by Leenzee and published by 505 Games was released as a day-one addition in July 2025 and has been available ever since. Wuchang’s release on Xbox Game Pass was a hit, even if it was met with mixed reviews.

Some players complained that the game felt somewhat generic, a sentiment that was also shared with what is seen as its direct competitor: Black Myth: Wukong. As much as the game doesn’t live up to the expectations created by the greats like Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring, this is still a challenging soulslike game that can feel brutal.

It is worth noting that the game’s availability on Xbox Game Pass may not last forever. Partnered titles that aren’t created by Xbox Game Studios tend to stay on the catalog for around a year, so it’s quite possible that Microsoft will remove Wuchang: Fallen Feather from Game Pass in a few months. Luckily, you have plenty of time to beat the game, which can take up to 50 hours to beat, according to HowLongToBeat.

The Game Is One Of The Best Soulslike Titles Of 2025

Although it may not live up to the quality we’ve come to expect from soulslike games like the aforementioned ones created by FromSoftware, Wuchang: Fallen Feather may scratch your itch with its intense challenges and great combat mechanics. The game, which is one of the best soulslike games of 2025, features remarkable and tough boss fights to get through.

Even if you’re a veteran in the subgenre, you may still encounter some worthwhile action. Considering it’s a freebie on Xbox Game Pass, you should use your membership to at least check it out and, hopefully, be impressed.
