The latest trailer for Jumanji: Open World has dropped, and it offers a glimpse of the franchise’s next adventure as the game breaks free of its console and enters the real world. Directed by Jake Kasdan, the film is the final instalment in the action-adventure trilogy that began with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and continued with Jumanji: The Next Level (2019). This time, the familiar rules are turned upside down as the game’s characters find themselves navigating life outside Jumanji.
The trailer opens with Spencer Gilpin (Alex Wolff) warning that Jumanji has spilt into their world. The group soon comes face to face with the game’s familiar avatars – Dr Smolder Bravestone (Dwayne Johnson), Ruby Roundhouse (Karen Gillan), Franklin “Mouse” Finbar (Kevin Hart) and Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon (Jack Black). Unlike their previous adventures, the characters must now deal with the chaos of the game entering everyday life.
The footage also returns to Jumanji’s unpredictable world, where a new group of players is transported into the game and takes on the avatars’ identities. The familiar characters find themselves in unfamiliar hands, with a woman inhabiting Bravestone’s body and a child taking over Mouse’s. The resulting switch sets up another round of confusion as the group navigates the dangers of the game.
Action sequences in the trailer include Bravestone and Ruby fighting thugs aboard a train before the adventure takes them through the jungle alongside Finbar and Oberon.
