Far Cry 7 remains largely a mystery, but that hasn’t stopped a leaker from claiming to know its planned release window. It has been five years since Far Cry 6, and while its sequel has yet to be officially announced by developer Ubisoft, part of Far Cry 7‘s reveal trailer may have leaked. That same source is now positing release information for two upcoming Ubisoft games, Far Cry 7 and Assassin’s Creed Hexe.
Leaker Rogue I Tx has been a prominent source regarding the next Far Cry, offering piecemeal insight via Twitter. They have recently claimed that Far Cry 7 and Assassin’s Creed Hexe are both slated for release in 2027, though no narrower window has been divulged. This wait between Far Cry entries has already been the longest in series history, and FC7 coming in 2027 would cap the interval at six years.
Give this leak its requisite skepticism, but Rogue I Tx does have a track record when it comes to Ubisoft games. Their previous account was taken down after leaking information on Far Cry 7 and the doomed shooter XDefiant. This new account has already been issued a DMCA Notice, which the leaker has used in a bid to prove their credibility. Assassin’s Creed Hexe being set for next year is also interesting, considering another recent leak claimed gameplay systems were being reevaluated, which could potentially increase development time.
Another Assassin’s Creed potentially coming soon was never really in doubt, though. That series has released new mainline games regularly for nearly 20 years, with Black Flag‘s remake slated for this year. Whereas Ubisoft has been rather open about Hexe, the company has been cagey about Far Cry 7, perhaps owing to the gradual downward trend in the mainline series’ review scores. FC7 could be the series’ big comeback, and Ubisoft may want to keep it under wraps.
Despite Ubisoft’s caginess, details about Far Cry 7 may have slipped out, once again courtesy of Rogue I Tx. Last November, they claimed the series is returning to the United States, this time being set in Alaska (Far Cry 5 takes place in Montana). Story details appear practically non-existent, but the leak does claim Far Cry 7 will have an extraction mode “featuring wildlife.”
The extraction genre has seen a big uptick in interest over the last couple of years, most notably in the breakout success of ARC Raiders. Ubisoft has dipped its toes into the genre before with The Division‘s Dark Zone and its sequel’s upcoming Survivors game mode. With Far Cry‘s light survival elements, extraction gameplay seems to fit in well, though this also obviously remains unconfirmed. This leaked information will, of course, remain effectively speculative until Far Cry 7 is actually revealed.
