See the climactic battle of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith like never before.
The conclusion to the Star Wars prequel trilogy is generally regarded as the best of its era, though still with glaring problems, namely a rushed, superficial plot and character development. Above all, this installment was charged with depicting Anakin Skywalker’s (Hayden Christensen) transformation into Darth Vader, his fall to the Dark Side inevitably leading to a lightsaber duel with his mentor Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).
It has been 21 years since Revenge of the Sith hit theaters, and the fanbase’s perception of it has been changed drastically by other entries into the franchise. The fans also offer up their own takes, or striking works of art that emphasize different elements, like @idk-i-was-bored‘s rendition of an image from the final battle that is actually all the dialogue spoken in the movie, colored to capture this moment.
Check out this fan art below:
In the caption, the artist says: “I decided to do something a little bit insane. I sat down and typed every word spoken in revenge of the Sith so I could then hand write every word to create this scene redraw. I am very pleased with the final result I’m not gonna lie.“ Described as a “random art account,” @idk-i-was-bored partakes in various fandoms.
Like the other Star Wars prequels, Revenge of the Sith isn’t exactly regarded for having well-written dialogue, but presented in this form, underscoring one of the movie’s best moments, may make one take the words more seriously. ScreenRant currently ranks Revenge of the Sith as the fifth-best Star Wars movie, above The Phantom Menace at No. 9 and Attack of the Clones at No. 8.
Moreover, Revenge of the Sith — which was directed by George Lucas himself and also stars Natalie Portman, Ian McDiarmid, Samuel L. Jackson, Jimmy Smits, Anthony Daniels, and Frank Oz — was re-released in theaters last year for its 25th anniversary; 2025 also marked the 10th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, which kicked off the sequel trilogy.
The Star Wars fandom is very different now than it was in the time of the prequel trilogy, as audiences can now generally expect one or two new releases every year. Ahsoka season 2 is expected in January 2027, while the new standalone movie Star Wars: Starfighter will hit theaters next summer. But fan works prove that the older movies remain the backbone of the franchise.
