Astro Bot Makes Official Surprise Return In September 2026

After the unexpected release of Astro Bot‘s Vicious Void release last July, it’s been a bit of a desert in terms of new content or DLC. That said, Astro Bot remains a tried-and-true PlayStation 5 hit to this day, with a massive audience of dedicated fans. Further, the unique puzzle-platformer still has one of the best implementations of DualSense technology available for PS5 users, even after recent DualSense-focused releases like Housemarque’s Saros.

As such, the big question on every Astro Bot fan’s mind is what’s in store for the future of the franchise, as there’s clearly demand for a follow-up game. With both Sony and Team Asobi striking gold with the first entry, Astro Bot 2 would undoubtedly be a massive sensation, and it’s a little hard to believe we haven’t received an official announcement yet.

And while Astro Bot fans wait for the next major announcement for the franchise, there’s an exciting new “surprise” release slated for September 2026 that you can pre-order now (via ).

While it’s not exactly the Astro Bot release most fans are looking for, there’s a brand-new line of “Nendoroid Surprise” Astro Bot figures from Mamegyorai releasing in September this year. Each set includes six different Astro figures in various poses, such as the signature pose, running, and jumping out, and comes with a random “surprise” selection from 15 different attachable parts.

This unique set of Astro Bot figures is available to pre-order now for roughly $70 USD (¥10,340) via Big Bad Toy Store and Mamegyorai (which includes a tariff surcharge) and is expected to ship in September in select markets.

These Astro Bot Nendoroids are sure to be a hit among collectors, but if they aren’t up your alley, there’s a lot to look forward to with the Astro Bot franchise. There’s a high likelihood that something big is in the works behind the scenes at Team Asobi, and hype around an official Astro Bot sequel has been building ever since the first game hinted at it with the Platinum Trophy description: “See you in Astro’s next adventure!”

So while we might only be getting small-scale merchandise releases at the moment, there’s almost certainly more to look forward to in the months/years ahead. Until then, if you still haven’t checked out all the additional Astro Bot DLC or made it all the way through to get your Astro Bot Platinum trophy, there’s no time like the present.
