Actor Esha Deol made her first public appearance since the passing of her father, legendary actor Dharmendra. The veteran actor passed away on November 24. She was spotted at Mumbai airport on Tuesday as she departed the city, keeping a low profile and limiting interaction with the media.
She was dressed in an understated all-black ensemble. Esha opted for a fitted black crew-neck T-shirt paired with matching black pants. She completed the look with aviator sunglasses and minimal gold jewellery, including a bracelet and ring. While walking toward the airport security check-in, she briefly paused to acknowledge the paparazzi and posed for photographs upon request.
However, the moment turned awkward when a photographer asked her, “Kaise ho aap?” (How are you?) Visibly taken aback by the question, Esha reacted with a surprised gesture. She raised her hand as if questioning the insensitivity of the query. She then folded her hands in a polite but firm manner and proceeded inside the airport without offering any response.
Earlier this month, Esha addressed her absence and emotional state through a note on her Instagram Stories. She explained that she was slowly resuming her professional commitments while continuing to grieve her father’s loss. In her message, she urged people to be patient and compassionate, describing herself first and foremost as a daughter mourning the loss of a deeply loved parent. She also shared that if she had her way, she would prefer to step away from social media for a while. However, circumstances made that difficult.
Dharmendra passed away days before his 90th birthday on December 8. He had recently been discharged from Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and was recuperating at home. He was cremated in Mumbai on November 25.
The veteran actor will be seen on screen one final time in Ikkis. The film is a war drama directed by Sriram Raghavan. The film stars Agastya Nanda as Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of the youngest recipients of the Param Vir Chakra for his bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak War. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 1, 2026
