HBO Max lands a new success with one of their limited series nearly four years after its run on the streaming platform. As sci-fi TV shows continue to thrive in the ever-growing world of television, a short-lived one is finding a new audience after its initial airing.

Station Eleven, which premiered in December 2021 and ran until January 2022, is now becoming a streaming sensation for HBO Max. The 10-part series is currently trending at #8 in the United States on the Warner Bros.-owned platform.

The HBO Max series, which is based on Emily St. John Mandel’s 2014 book of the same name, was created by Patrick Somerville and starred Mackenzie Davis as Kirsten Raymonde. Station Eleven takes place in a world 12 years after a flu pandemic saw civilization fall, with Kirsten as one of the survivors.

At the time of this story’s publication, Station Eleven is sitting on 98% on the Critics’ Score on Rotten Tomatoes, while holding a 75% rating on the Popcornmeter. The series also starred Himseh Patel, Nabhaan Rizwan, David Wilmot, Daniel Zovatto, Philippine Velge, and Lori Petty.

Station Eleven earned several Emmy nominations in 2022, including one for Patel for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. The HBO Max drama also got nominated at the Emmys for Outstanding Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Outstanding Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

While it concluded in 2022, a possible Station Eleven season 2 was brought up by Davis. In a Variety interview from 2022, the lead star stated that if it ever came back, it would be through the anthology format, as she stated the following:

Mackenzie Davis: What would interest me would be an anthology series. Something that Emily St. John Mandel, who wrote the book, has said, this isn’t everybody’s experience. This is the experience of this group of people in this area of the world. There is a completely different group of people that have built an agricultural wonderland, and aren’t traveling bards and aren’t cobbling together this meager existence and settlements. I think that interests me more than then like excavating these characters.

Catch Station Eleven on HBO Max.
