Magnum Opus Feels Like A Completely New Game

We all know that Bloodborne is one of the greatest games ever made. Which is why it’s all the more frustrating that we only have the one game. While it’s one heck of a game and the DLC remains iconic, I feel like in a just and fair world we would have at least two Bloodborne sequels by now, right?

Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive The Duskbloods certainly looks like a spiritual successor to Bloodborne in all but name, but I need to return to the streets of Yharnam. My life is empty without Bloodborne. I really don’t have a lot going on, guys.

    Enter Bloodborne: Magnum Opus

We can always rely on the fans

Fortunately for us, dedicated fans are always on-hand to do what Sony won’t. Bloodborne: Magnum Opus is an absolutely massive overhaul, and the result of thousands of hours of work. Its creator, Abyss1ne, has pored over the games files to restore a lot of the cut content and even throw in a few surprises.

Magnum Opus is primarily to fix some of the smaller issues in Bloodborne that were caused by various graphical quirks. As such, it’s mostly focused on vastly improving the game’s already fantastic lighting, and in that respect it really does feel like a whole new game. But there’s actually more to it than just a graphical refresh.

A newer, second version of the mod was recently released called Project Beast. This version brings back a ton of scrapped content, including weapons, enemies, items, and Chalice Dungeon levels. It also remixes the vanilla game, putting enemies in new areas to keep players on their toes.

Here’s what the mod’s creator has to say:

“PROJECT BEAST, focuses on not only bringing back features and elements of the game that were never released or all together scrapped out of the game during development – enemies, items, weapons and even Chalice levels; but

the mod also focuses on a new take of the game using the prior knowledge and experience of the vanilla to enhance and surprise the player throughout their journey in Yharnam.”

A New Challenge For Bloodborne Fans

It might not be for everyone

The biggest and most important thing to note here is that this is obviously only available for PC gamers. And since Bloodborne still isn’t officially available on PC (thanks, Sony) getting this installed and working is a task not everyone is going to be up to facing.

With that said, if you are craving Bloodborne, this is definitely one of the best new ways to play the game in 2026.
