Netflix just quietly added HBO Max’s raunchy teen comedy series with 30 episodes and three seasons that’s perfect to binge-watch this back-to-school weekend. Originally released in 2021, this fan-favorite raunchy comedy set at a modern-day college in Vermont follows four freshmen roommates as they navigate their romantic interests and existential pressures during their so-called glory days. Featuring a wide ensemble led by Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Laur, and Reneé Rapp, this series offers a heightened depiction of college life in the 2020s.
All three seasons of Mindy Kaling’s HBO Max series The Sex Lives of College Girls were officially added to Netflix’s vast streaming library on August 31, 2026. With 3 seasons and 30 total episodes, it’s a great show to binge-watch for fans of raunchy teen comedies like Prime Video’s Overcompensating and college-based series like Fresh Meat. Nearly every episode is 30 minutes or less, making it easy to start and finish over the course of a week or two, which is why it’s one of ScreenRant’s top new Netflix shows to binge-watch this week.
The Sex Lives Of College Girls Is Now Officially Streaming On Netflix
Although HBO Max cancelled The Sex Lives of College Girls after three seasons, it is still worth checking out this week now that it’s officially available on Netflix. Mindy Kaling, known for her iconic role in the US version of The Office and for producing series such as The Mindy Project and Running Point, co-created the series with Justin Noble (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Never Have I Ever). The series earned a near-perfect 97% Rotten Tomatoes score for its first season, followed by an equally impressive 94% RT score for its second season.
The Sex Lives of College Girls explores four girls’ exciting arrival at Essex College, a fictional liberal arts school set in idyllic rural Vermont. These mismatched roommates include Kimberly Finkle, played by Pauline Chalamet, Bela Malhotra, played by Amrit Kaur, Leighton Murray, played by Reneé Rapp, and Whitney Chase, played by Alyah Chanelle Scott. Although they each have distinct personalities, differing perspectives, and unique ambitions during their time in college, the chemistry between them is the true core of the show.
From the very first episode, The Sex Lives of College Girls dives right into an unfiltered yet exaggerated look at modern college life. Kimberly, Bela, Leighton, and Whitney are all anxious to leave their high-school lives behind, and with it the expectations and rules of their parents, and they embark on their journey of self-discovery. Along the way, they encounter many of the classic pitfalls of young adulthood, including the chaotic emotions tied to hookup culture, the immense pressures of the academic workload, and everything in between.
The Sex Lives Of College Girls Is The Perfect Back-To-School Binge
Netflix could not have added The Sex Lives of College Girls at a better time, with millions of students around the country returning to school at the start of September. While the series is by no means a resourceful guide for college students in reality, it does carry some relatable and familiar elements of the traditional 4-year college experience. Even though Kaling and company didn’t end up getting the season 4 it wanted and arguably deserved, the existing three seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls still hold up as one of the decade’s best comedy series of its kind.
Critics nearly unanimously praised the first two seasons of The Sex Lives of College Girls, with Variety writing, “The Sex Lives of College Girls proves that there are plenty of ways for TV shows to tell college stories, especially when rooted in engagingly messy characters like these.” Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter noted, “For the most part, The Sex Lives of College Girls feels like the TV equivalent of dorm-room pizza: nothing novel or fancy, perhaps, but warm and gooey enough to satisfy.” If you’re still looking for that perfect show to binge as back-to-school season comes to an end, The Sex Lives of College Girls is about as good as it gets on Netflix.
