Prime Video’s New 8-Part Mystery Series With Near-Perfect Rotten Tomatoes Score Is The Ideal Weekend Binge

Prime Video‘s new mystery series is already trending worldwide, and heading into the weekend, the hit show emerges as the perfect binge for subscribers. The binge release model has become popular in the streaming era, with Netflix making it the norm initially for streamers and many others going for that tactic. However, not all of them end up releasing their shows as binges.

Prime Video’s catalog of TV shows comes with a mixed approach. Most of the streaming service’s original series, including major releases like The Boys and Invincible, have aired new episodes weekly, rather than all at once, following a more traditional TV model. That said, it varies, as Reacher season 1 was dropped as a binge and subsequent seasons debuted with three episodes followed by weekly releases.

Still, there are some Prime Video original shows that do end up releasing all of its episodes on the same day. That includes high-profile shows, such as the costly espionage thriller series Citadel season 2, and new global streaming sensations like the spy comedy Ride or Die. Now, a new Prime Video mystery series has been released in that format.

The show in question is Sterling Point, which released all of its 8 episodes on Prime Video on Wednesday, August 5. The new coming-of-age drama stands out amid a stacked 2026 genre for the streamer, as it is an original series, rather than a book adaptation like the popular Off Campus and Every Year After. Sterling Point is the perfect weekend binge.

Prime Video’s Sterling Point tells the story of Ella Rubin’s Annie Jacobson, who grew up with a life full of wonder among New York City’s elite. However, when she inherits her grandfather’s island in Canada, everything changes. The drama brings along many mysteries for viewers to unfold throughout its eight episodes, with just as many romances, twists, and just top-notch, emotional dialogue. Sterling Point hails from a powerful team of showrunners for fans of coming-of-age stories and hard-hitting dramas. The Prime Video series was created by The Fallout writer and director Megan Park. Gossip Girl co-creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage are also co-showrunners.

Sterling Point‘s cast features a nice mix of established names and rising stars. The new Prime Video series includes well-known actors like Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead: Dead City) and Jay Duplass (Percy Jackson and the Olympians), and fresh faces, like Bo Bragason, who is set to become a global sensation soon, as she will play Princess Zelda in the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. Sterling Point has proven itself to be a hit with critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the new Prime Video drama currently stands at a near-perfect 92% critics’ score based on 24 reviews.

Why Sterling Point Is Perfect For A Weekend Binge On Prime Video

If you have not seen Sterling Point, then you are missing out. According to FlixPatrol, Sterling Point is currently the 3rd most-watched TV show on Prime Video worldwide, only being beaten by the new spy comedy Ride or Die and the romance phenomenon Off Campus. Given how Sterling Point is one of the Prime Video shows that had all of its episodes released on the same day, it makes the show perfect for a binge. However, with eight episodes in season 1, Sterling Point is better suited for a weekend binge, rather than finishing it in one sitting.

With episodes that range from 44 minutes to 51 minutes, Sterling Point season 1 has a total runtime of 381 minutes, or roughly 6.35 hours. As such, it becomes the perfect Prime Video series to be binged over a couple of days, though its mysteries are so good and the show builds up an intense atmosphere that draws in viewers, making it understandable if some opt to watch all episodes in one night. Whatever your preference might be, Sterling Point is a compelling drama that offers great character development, intriguing mysteries, and impactful relationships, perfect for a weekend binge.
