The 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series didn’t see too many major announcements when it passed by this March, but that doesn’t mean Capcom doesn’t have a few extra surprises in store for fans this year, which is already being proven with their latest release. While the Resident Evil series is no stranger to exciting crossover events, its latest partnership is something that comes as a complete surprise to even dedicated fans of the legendary horror series.

While it might not be the announcement of a new game or classic remaster that some fans were hoping to see come out of Resident Evil‘s 30th anniversary, Capcom’s latest collab event is still an exciting addition to the year-long celebration and is now available to fans worldwide.

Coming as a shock to Resident Evil fans everywhere, the latest collaboration was announced by none other than the official BABYMETAL account on X today, which saw the band members reacting to and announcing an exclusive merchandise collaboration between the idol-themed metal band and the Resident Evil series.

With the pre-ordering period starting now and ending on June 26 at 11:59 PM, you’ll have about a month to grab the official BABYMETAL x Resident Evil collaboration, which notably features designs made by none other than in-house Capcom artist Hinanana, who made a plethora of gorgeous artwork for previous Resident Evil anniversary merchandise and the Street Fighter series in the past.

As a part of the surprise merch drop, there will be a set of two shirts, a zip-up hoodie, 4 randomized keychains, and an acrylic stand featuring all three BABYMETAL band members as the vampires from Resident Evil Village standing in front of none other than Lady Demetrescu herself, all of which are available for the following prices in USD:

    • The Ladies Tee — $50
    • The Dolls Tee — $50
    • Metal Outbreak Zip-Up Hoodie — $90
    • The Dolls Random Acrylic Keychain (1 of 4) — $15
    • The Ladies Acrylic Standee — $60

While the collaboration has limited appeal for fans of solely the Resident Evil series itself, some of the designs included are still standout offerings compared to some of Capcom’s heavily criticized merch designs, taking full advantage of BABYMETAL’s unique style and Hinanana’s fantastic designs to create one of Resident Evil‘s more visually impressive crossovers to date.

While Resident Evil‘s newest collaboration was certainly a surprise for anyone who didn’t see it teased live on stage, the announcement has already been met with a wave of positive reactions from fans of both franchises, with responses praising the designs despite being “one of the most random left-field collabs Babymetal have ever done.“

Given that we’re only halfway through the year and have already received several new collaborations and releases from the Resident Evil franchise, there’s still plenty of time for even more new events, crossovers, or even confirmations about upcoming remakes that fans will want to keep an eye out for in the future as we get closer to December.
