Rye Coalition have reunited for his or her first new recordings in twenty years—covers of Shellac and Drive Like Jehu collected on a charity 7″ vinyl single. Titled Paid in Full, the one honors the late Steve Albini and Rick Froberg with covers of Shellac’s “Wingwalker” and Drive Like Jehu’s “Bullet Prepare to Vegas.” The band recorded the brand new music with Tom Beaujour. Order the one on Bandcamp and hearken to “Wingwalker” beneath.

All proceeds from Paid in Full—out July 18 by way of Ernest Jenning Record Co.—go to Letters Charity, the nonprofit that Albini based along with his spouse, Heather Whinna, to assist Chicago households dwelling in poverty. Every copy is “distinctive, handmade, stamped, numbered, painted on letter pressed covers,” in response to the press launch. Rye Coalition’s final album, Curses, was recorded lengthy earlier than its 2006 launch, because of the band’s ill-fated signing to Dreamworks, as documented in The Story of the Hard Luck 5.

Again in April, Herb Wiley, a guitarist in Rye Coalition and the Black Hollies, revealed a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often known as Lou Gehrig’s illness, and launched a GoFundMe page.
