A Reunion Decades In The Making
The development has generated interest among film fans, not only because of Shammy’s addition to the project but also because it marks his reunion with Vikram after more than 30 years. While the makers have yet to officially confirm the casting or reveal details about Shammy’s character, Abhimanyu’s social media post offered a glimpse into the emotional significance of the collaboration.
Taking to Instagram, Abhimanyu reflected on a recent meeting with Vikram during the film’s shoot and shared a personal memory tied to their long association. The actor revealed that the two stars had previously worked together in the Malayalam films Dhruvam (1993) and Street (1995), making Chiyaan 63 their first collaboration since then.
“‘Do you remember me?’ Hearing these words from Vikram sir yesterday is a moment I will cherish forever. The last time we met, I was just a 6-month-old baby on the sets of the Malayalam movie Street, where he and my father shared the screen. They had first worked together in Dhruvam, and now more than 30 years later, they are reuniting for Chiyaan 63.”
Abhimanyu further recalled a touching moment from the interaction.
“When he smiled and added, “Njan ninne pandu orupad eduthond nadanatha..” (I have carried you around a lot when you were little), all I could do was give a shy, overwhelming smile.”
He went on to describe both actors as “incredible” and called their reunion after more than three decades “absolute magic”, adding that some professional relationships only grow stronger with time.
Anand Shankar And Vikram Reunite After Iru Mugan
Chiyaan 63 is already one of the most anticipated projects in Vikram’s lineup. The film reunites the actor with Anand Shankar nearly a decade after their successful collaboration on Iru Mugan, the 2016 action thriller that showcased Vikram in a memorable dual role.
Produced by Sendhil Thiyagarajan and Arjun Thiyagarajan under the Sathya Jyothi Films banner, the project is being described as a family action entertainer. Production is currently underway, with the team steadily expanding its cast.
The film stars Riya Shibu, Urvashi, MS Bhaskar and Samyuktha Hegde in key roles alongside Vikram. Though plot details remain under wraps, the makers are believed to be blending emotional family dynamics with large-scale commercial action elements.
The technical team also boasts several accomplished names. Music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, whose recent work has earned praise across industries, while cinematography is being handled by RD Rajasekhar, a long-time collaborator of several leading Tamil filmmakers.
Meanwhile, Vikram continues to maintain one of the busiest schedules of his career. Apart from Chiyaan 63, the actor is awaiting updates on the long-delayed Dhruva Natchathiram and is also set to headline Chiyaan 64, directed by C Prem Kumar.
As production progresses, the addition of Shammy Thilakan has added another layer of intrigue to Anand Shankar’s latest venture. For fans of both actors, the prospect of seeing them together again after more than three decades offers a compelling reason to keep an eye on the film’s journey.
