Steam cannot be stopped, at least in 2026. The Steam Deck is still riding high, even amid hardware shortages, and we recently got the new controller. Plus, the new generation of Steam Machines is poised to arrive any month now, and there’s even a new VR headset coming. Valve has been extremely busy, to say the least.

That said, fans have been waiting with bated breath for any substantial new info on the Steam Machines, which are arguably the crown jewel of this upcoming staggered hardware launch. Valve has been keeping everything close to the chest, but that changes regularly as more info is doled out through unlikely sources.

Over on X, new evidence has been uncovered that quietly teases the Steam Machine’s arrival. While fans have been waiting for ages, it looks like the time might finally be near. You’d best get saving, though, as it won’t come cheap.

Over on X, Twitter user Brad Lynch pointed out that the Steam Client Beta ushered in a ton of references to the Steam Machine. This includes localization for the Steam Verified program, as well as concessions for the LED bar lighting on the Steam Machine unit, and HDMI CEC audio control.

In other words, Valve is prepping Steam for the Steam Machine launch, much like they did with the controller in the backend in beta form. Once the Steam Machine is fully revealed and dated, all Valve has to do is bring these features out of beta and into the live edition, so fans can enjoy them day one. HDMI CEC is essentially a protocol for remote control support, allowing Steam Machine users to more easily navigate menus.

While we have plenty of info on the Steam Machine’s software-related inner workings, we’ve yet to see the big price reveal. Given worldwide hardware shortages, it’s hard to believe this rollout will be affordable.

Even with all these hints, we don’t have a clear-cut plan as to when Valve might roll these out, but it seems like it’s coming soon. A shipment of hardware was reported to have arrived at one of Valve’s warehouses, potentially for a final quality check ahead of the full worldwide rollout of Steam Machine hardware.

In the meantime, you can use the second iteration of the Steam Controller now, and someone has already allegedly gotten their hands on the Steam Frame. Plus, restocks for Steam Decks are on the way. If you haven’t engaged with the Steam ecosystem yet, now might be a good time, depending on the final price of the Steam Machines.
