One of the biggest films from Taylor Sheridan will soon be getting a whole new audience.

Over the last couple of years, Sheridan has been actively expanding his Yellowstone franchise and is only getting busier. However, as the Hollywood writer and director has more projects coming up, a major film from a decade ago could soon be climbing the streaming charts.

Hell or High Water, which was released on August 12, 2016, is about to get a new streaming home. The Sheridan-written film will officially be arriving on HBO Max starting on Monday, June 1, in the United States.

The Hell of High Water cast starred Jeff Bridges as Marcus Hamilton, Chris Pine as Toby Howard, and Ben Foster as Tanner Howard. The R-rated western also features Marin Ireland as Debbie Howard, Gil Birmingham as Alberto Parker, along with Kevin Rankin as Billy Rayburn, Dale Dickey as Elsie, and Amber Midthunder as Natalie Martinez.

Hell or High Water is one of the few times Sheridan has appeared in one of his own movies and TV shows, as the filmmaker had a cameo as a cowboy. The film was helmed by director David Mackenzie, with the 2016 entry landing multiple Academy Award nominations.

Bridge earned an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, while Sheridan’s script earned him a nomination for Best Original Screenplay. Hell or High Water was also one of the titles up for Best Picture at the Academy Awards, which in the end went to Moonlight.

The 2016 film ended up grossing $37.8 million at the worldwide box office, with $27 million being from the domestic market, while making $10.8 million internationally. According to Box Office Mojo, Hell or High Water was reportedly produced on a $12 million budget.

In ScreenRant’s Hell or High Water movie review, Sheridan’s gritty story was given an 8/10 rating. The project was also highly celebrated for how it possessed “a quirky and dark sense of humor – one that comes through in particular during scenes between the Texas Rangers Alberto Parker and Marcus Hamilton, as played by Gil Birmingham and Jeff Bridges.”

At the time of this story’s publication, Hell or High Water is holding a strong 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 287 submitted reviews. The movie’s Audience Score is also a solid one, as it is currently sitting on 88%.

To this day, Hell or High Water is regarded as one of the best Neo-Western movies from the 2000s, becoming one of the most beloved titles in Sheridan’s filmography. The next major film he is writing is the Call of Duty film adaptation based on the massively popular video game.

Catch Hell or High Water on HBO Max starting on June 1.
