The Boys season 5 introduces a familiar-looking Supe named Bombsight, thanks to the actor’s significant role in Stranger Things. The trailer for The Boys season 5, episode 6 teased Bombsight’s debut, a few episodes after he was first mentioned. Bombsight’s name was raised as a possible Supe who had a vial of V-One, the original strain of Compound V that made him, alongside the likes of Soldier Boy, immortal.

This dynamic will undoubtedly be outlined in Vought Rising‘s story, a prequel to The Boys confirmed to center on Soldier Boy, Stormfront, Bombsight, and a few other V-One-injected Supes. Where The Boys season 5 itself is concerned, though, Bombsight was lured out of hiding by Butcher and the titular team so that they could destroy the V-One before Homelander used it for himself.

In The Boys season 5, episode 6, this confrontation served as the climactic act of the story, heavily featuring Mason Dye as Bombsight. Although his Supe in The Boys is very different, Dye will look familiar to fans of Stranger Things. In Stranger Things season 4, Dye had a significant supporting role as Jason Carver.

Jason was Lucas’ basketball teammate and Chrissy’s boyfriend. After the latter’s death at the hands of Vecna, Jason believed that Joseph Quinn’s Eddie Munson was responsible. This led Jason and his team on a manhunt for Eddie, culminating in a fistfight with Lucas. Unfortunately for him, Jason met a grim fate when a rift to the Upside Down tore him apart. Since then, Dye has not appeared in any major TV productions, though his role as Bombsight in The Boys and Vought Rising changes that drastically.

Mason Dye’s Characters In The Boys & Stranger Things Couldn’t Be More Different

As is proven by The Boys season 5, episode 6, Mason Dye’s Bombsight could not be more distinct from his role as Jason in Stranger Things. In the latter, Jason embodies the classic 1980s jock trope. He is a popular, charismatic, athletic kid who essentially runs his school and dates an attractive cheerleader. As season 4 develops, Jason takes a dark turn by setting his sights on Eddie.

Although Jason, given his ignorance of the Upside Down, has strong reasoning for opposing Eddie, he becomes a supporting antagonist throughout the story. This is perhaps the only real link between Bombsight and Jason, given the former’s brief appearance in The Boys as somewhat of an antagonist to Billy Butcher, Hughie, and the rest of their group.

Everything else, though, marks the two as incredibly different characters. Bombsight does not have Jason’s youth, for example, given that he was active during the 1940s and 50s. Also, to state the obvious, Bombsight is immortal with superhuman powers, something Jason very evidently lacks.

Where Else You Know Mason Dye From

Concerning Mason Dye himself, there are a few other projects he will be known for outside of The Boys and Stranger Things. Perhaps the most well-known is Teen Wolf, in which Dye portrayed Garrett, an antagonist in season 4. Dye also appeared in nine episodes of Finding Carter, MTV’s teen drama released in 2014, as Damon.

Beyond that, Dye’s other main role came in Bosch season 5 as Tom. After that, he was cast in Stranger Things season 4, which undoubtedly led to his casting in The Boys season 5 and Vought Rising. The latter will only continue building out Dye’s career by giving him a leading role for the first time. If the complex character glimpsed in The Boys season 5, episode 6 is anything to go by, that leading role will be a compelling one and a great next step for Dye’s career.
